Charles Rand Penney began to collect art in 1934. His collections have been on display in various prominent institutions around the country. In 1995 he was honored with a Doctorate of Fine Arts from the State University of New York for his life-long support for the arts. Dr. Penney began collecting World's Fair memorabilia in 1970. His collecting interests focus on U.S. Fairs. His interest in World's Fairs came from family ties: his grandfather Thomas Penney, former District Attorney for Erie County,
prosecuted President McKinley's assassin. President McKinley was assassinated at the Pan American Exposition in Buffalo, New York in 1901.
Tom Diddle is well known to World's Fair Collectors for his extensive collection of items from the 1893 Columbian Exposition Chicago World's Fair.
The auctions will also feature items from the collection of Andy Kaufman and other well known collectors, including items from European and U.S. Fairs.
The fourteenth auction will close on October 19th, 2010. The color catalog will be available for viewing on Sept. 26th and bidding on-line will begin on October 1st.
