"The Illustrated London News", 2 Volume Set containing the all the issues from 1851, Volume 18 January to June 1851 and Volume 19 July to December 1851. These publications are full of information about the Crystal Palace, including 2 large foldout engravings of the building, one exterior and one interior. There is also plenty of information about the city of London and other events that occurred there in 1851. These contain an incredible wealth of information and are a must for anyone interested in the history of expositions. Size: Each volume is 16" high by 11 1/2" wide and 2 1/2" thick. The foldout engravings are 43 1/2" wide by 30" high. Condition: Very Fine, with wear to the binding and some age spotting. Both engravings have tears and some old tape repairs (one is not attached to the book). $ 230
Book "1851 or the Adventures of Mr. And Mrs. Sandboys who came up to London to Enjoy Themselves and see the Great Exhibition" by Henry Mayhew and George Cruikshank. This book is 8 separate booklets that are all contained in the original box that is marked on the edge. Published in London by George Newbold, 303 & 304, Strand, W.C." This is the story of these peoples adventure at the Fair. The book is 242 pages and contains at least 6 pages that fold out and show illustrations of the fair and parts of London. The tag inside the first booklet indicates that this was sold at Christies on Feb 21, 1989 as lot number 1806. Size: Box is 9 1/8" high by 6 1/8" wide by 1 5/8" thick. Condition: Extremely Fine with a some wear and a few light stains to the box and booklets. $ 151
